Frequently Asked Questions

New to yoga or to our studio? We've got answers. Don't see yours? Get in touch.

What should I bring to class?
A yoga mat, a water bottle, and comfortable clothing you can move in. Mats are available to borrow if you don't have one yet. For hot yoga, bring a small towel and consider a mat towel as well.
Do I need prior experience?
Not at all! Many of our classes are beginner-friendly, and our instructors always offer modifications. We recommend starting with a Beginner Yoga or Gentle Yoga class if you're completely new.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. Yoga is practiced barefoot, so you don't need special shoes. Avoid clothing that is too loose or too restrictive.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before class. This gives you time to sign in, set up your mat, and settle in before we begin. Arriving late can be disruptive to other students.
What if I'm not flexible?
Perfect — yoga will help with that! Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga; it's one of the many benefits. Our instructors offer modifications so every pose is accessible regardless of your starting point.
Can complete beginners attend any class?
We recommend starting with classes labeled Beginner, Gentle, or Yin. Most other classes are also accessible to beginners, but those formats offer the most foundational instruction. When in doubt, contact us.
What if I have an injury or health condition?
Please let your instructor know before class. Most injuries don't prevent you from practicing — your instructor will suggest modifications to keep you safe. For serious conditions, consult your doctor first.
Are mats provided?
Yes! We have mats available to borrow at no extra charge. We do ask that you wipe them down after use. If you plan to attend regularly, investing in your own mat is a great idea.
What happens during my first class?
Arrive a few minutes early to introduce yourself to the instructor. They'll answer any questions and show you where to set up. During class, follow along as best you can — rest whenever you need to, and don't worry about doing everything perfectly.
What's the difference between the class types?
Check out our Class Formats page for a full breakdown! In short: Vinyasa is flowing and breath-linked, Yin is slow and held, Restorative is deeply passive, Hot Yoga is practiced in a heated room, and Beginner classes focus on the fundamentals.
